As Addiction Treatment Has Developed Into A Formal Model Of Care

“Recovery” has become synonymous with “sobriety.” Although sobriety will always be a key component of recovery, we at Burning Tree Ranch believe that recovery should include much more than physical abstinence from drugs or alcohol. Here, recovery means achieving your potential, finding your purpose and embracing a lifestyle of holistic wellbeing. It means understanding and acknowledging that the substances themselves are not the only issue at hand. Recovery means healing from everything that may be a barrier to leading a long and happy life. When it comes to recovery, we think sobriety is too narrow a goal — so we offer comprehensive recovery care for substance use disorders and co-occurring diagnoses, with a focus on guiding every person toward leading not only a sober life but a healthy and fulfilling one as well.

Our Residential Treatment Programs Are Available To Adult Men & Women

Substance Use Disorders

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders refers to addiction, chemical dependency and substance abuse by the term “substance use disorder,” or SUD. This terminology emphasizes the fact that drug addiction and alcoholism are characterized by disordered substance use — problematic substance use driven by an uncontrollable psychological compulsion. Treatment for substance use disorders therefore requires an approach that addresses the substance use itself, its physical effects on the body and the mental health component of the disease.

At Burning Tree Ranch, we provide this multi-faceted approach, treating individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction with traditional, 12-step and abstinence-based methods and with current evidence-based behavioral therapies.

  • With these methods, we can effectively treat a broad range of substance use disorders:
  • Alcohol
  • Opioids
  • Prescription drugs
  • Heroin
  • Cocaine
  • Methamphetamine
  • DXM/Cough Syrup
  • Ecstasy/Molly/MDMA

Our immersive, intensive programming breaks the cycle of addiction and instills healthier habits and coping mechanisms. We help our clients first find the root of their substance abuse, and then use mindfulness-based techniques to manage the stressors and pressures that have been driving them toward drugs or alcohol. Our goal is long-term recovery with both physical sobriety and a renewed dedication to leading a mentally, physically and spiritually healthy lifestyle.

Co-Occurring Diagnoses

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration estimates that nearly 45 percent of individuals with a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring mental health disorder. While this number may seem high at first glance, it begins to make sense when accounting for the fact that drugs and alcohol interfere with brain chemistry, and the fact that many individuals use drugs or alcohol to cope with emotional distress that may be related to mental illness. It is instantly clear that substance abuse and mental health concerns can be closely intertwined, with each problem stoking the symptoms of the other.

Our mission at Burning Tree Ranch is to provide holistic and lasting recovery. To accomplish this goal, we identify and treat co-occurring mental health concerns. Our dual diagnosis treatment is available for all patients who have symptoms of a distinct mental health concern alongside addiction.

  • Some common mental health concerns that we treat include:
  • Depression
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Trauma/PTSD
  • Attention Disorders/ADHD
  • Bipolar Disorder

Our experienced providers are trained and licensed to provide addiction and mental health therapies, and we work closely with every client to evaluate their needs and identify whether a dual diagnosis treatment plan is appropriate. We utilize meditation and mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and trauma-informed programming to help our clients develop healthier coping mechanisms and manage their mental health symptoms in a productive and healthy way.

Our Long-Term Residential Program

In many cases of addiction, particularly for those who experience chronic relapse, entering a long-term treatment program may be necessary. Long-term rehab focuses on addressing every issue surrounding addiction – from detoxification to reintegration into mainstream society. Long term treatment may last eight months to a year, or may be of an indeterminate length, depending on the severity of the addiction.

  • Long-term treatment consists of:
  • 24-hour care and behavior monitoring
  • Full participation in the recovery process by the staff of the facility
  • Programs tailored to individual needs and conditions.
  • Access to multiple treatment methodologies
  • Diagnosing and treating co-occurring disorders
  • After completion of long-term treatment, access to post-treatment care and services is provided to ensure that recovery progresses. To prevent a relapse, post-treatment includes:
  • Sponsors
  • Individual and Group Therapy sessions
  • Community based support groups

The carefully structured programs help clients recognize and change their ingrained beliefs regarding addiction and its consequences. They also introduce new patterns of behavior to replace those that have facilitated addiction.

Family services are also provided in order to assist all who are affected by addiction. The ability of family members to actively participate and assist in the recovery process is both vital and proven to contribute to success.
