Burning Tree provides relapse prevention programs specializing in long term residential drug and alcohol treatment for adults with a relapse history. We serve the substance abuse relapse adult who has been to other treatment programs and in and out of 12 step programs and just can't seem to get and stay sober. Alcohol & drug, rehab treatment, relapse prevention and a relapse prevention plan are our primary roles. We are a drug rehab program treatment center and a long-term alcohol rehab licensed by the Texas Dept of State Health Services.

Hepatitis C Information
Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C, also called HCV, is a liver disease caused by a virus of the same name. Hepatitis C can also be caused by alcohol abuse, medications, and trauma. The infection with Hepatitis C can become chronic and possibly lead to renal failure and death.
Method of Transmission
People become infected with Hepatitis C (HCV) through contact with infected blood or sexual contact with an infected partner. HCV can be passed to an unborn fetus through an infected mother, particularly if the mother is also infected with HIV. People often carry the infection without exhibiting any symptoms. The longer the infection remains undiagnosed and untreated, the greater the likelihood that it will develop into chronic liver disease. People infected with HCV can transmit the virus whether they exhibit any symptoms or not.
Symptoms of Hepatitis C
Symptoms of Hepatitis C are not always present in infected persons. When symptoms are experienced, however, early signs include headache, body ache, nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. Later symptoms such as dark urine, abdominal cramping, and jaundice skin/eyes are known to occur.
Treatment of Hepatitis C
Most doctors recommend bed rest, plenty of liquids, a balanced diet, and total abstinence of alcohol for symptoms of acute Hepatitis C. In most cases, patients improve rapidly within two to three weeks and are completely recovered within one to two months.
Although no specific treatment is followed as such for Hepatitis C, some people use interferon to improve liver function and reduce the symptoms. Possible side effects from this medication include fever with headache and body ache.
Preventing Hepatitis C
Since infected blood is the primary cause of Hepatitis C, avoiding direct contact with blood is essential. Extreme precautions must be taken when handling items that might be infected, such as toothbrushes and razors, by wearing disposable gloves.
